Parent Information for Round 2

Parent Information for Round 2
Posted on 10/20/2020
Dear FCLA Guardians,

Student-led conferences are underway and we really enjoyed meeting with the students and parents who signed up for this week's conferences. There are still times available to sign up for conferences on the 20th.  Please see the email sent out on October 8th for details.

Round two in the FCLA begins Friday, October 16th. Students have been reminded, via the FCLA 2020 Google Classroom, about the expectations which are highlighted below.

Round two begins Friday- this means new workshops and seminars, studio time will remain the same. Students have been invited and need to accept the invitation to new Google Classrooms so they can join Google Meets at the scheduled class time.

Students should NOT leave the Google Classrooms from Round 1 until grades are finalized. Late work from Round 1 will be accepted through October 27th.

We recognize the important role you play as guardians and thank you for everything you currently do to support your students.

We hope the information provided helps you connect with your student about their experiences within the FCLA.

The following page is a letter from one of our board members who provides additional ways you can support the FCLA and all of our students.

Hi FCLA Parents/Guardians: My name is Julia Squier. I am a parent of 2 FCLA alums (’15 and ’19) and currently serve on the FCLA Governing Board. It was nice to see many parents and students at the Meet & Greet for FCLA earlier this year.

For those who attended, I want to make sure you have my contact info (see below).

Please feel free to reach out with any questions and possible interest in serving on the FCLA Board.  For those who were unable to attend, I want to explain more details regarding the Governing Board and our no cost fundraisers that support FCLA (also found on the FCLA website by selecting “our school” and “fundraising”).

The Board exists to support and sustain FCLA through community engagement and relationship development.  As a member of the Board, we ask for participation in 10 monthly meetings (typically at 7 am on the 2nd Monday of each month) plus one annual retreat in June.  We welcome parent input and any community/business connections you have to benefit our students’ experiences.

Amazon Smile

If you are able to do one quick thing from this email, please go to AmazonSmile and select Fox Cities Leadership Academy as your favorite charity.  Whenever you make purchases at Amazon, please go through AmazonSmile (same exact shopping experience).  A percentage of every purchase gets donated to FCLA!!  There is also an AmazonSmile app!

My Huterra

Download the free MyHuterra app, set up an account, and select Fox Cities Leadership Academy as your fundraiser.  You can make purchases, buy gift cards, or scan receipts from local businesses through the app.  A percentage of your purchases will go to FCLA.  Copper Rock, Panera, Target, Pick-n-Save, Chipotle,  and BP are just a few local businesses who participate.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Julia Squier
